Mosaic project for montreal public library

Hey cube community!

I have not logged in for some time, mostly I have been occupied with a lot of great projects in Montreal.  This winter I produced a mosaic mural for a public art piece in the children's library at Point-aux-trembles, Montreal.  The project was made in collaboration with my partner, artist Arthur Desmarteaux.  Please spend a moment to check out the link to our MOSAIC BLOG, to follow our process.  The cube was instrumental in helping transport materials to and from the studio to create this monumental work. 240 square feet of cermic pixels!  THANKS NISSAN!  There will be an inauguration of this work, October 2, 2011.  I will surely post the invite when the time comes! best,  Allison

Seasons and the Colour of Ocean Surf

Summer is by far my favourite season:

  • t-shirt weather 24/7
  • Days that last forever (dawn before 5, dusk till after 10).
  • Bright bright sunshine.

Fall may be my least favorite season:

  • t-shirt weather only indoors
  • it gets dark far too early
  • its gray (like all the time)
  • even when its sunny, the shadows are long

What does this have to do with anything?  As the seasons and weather changes so does the colour of my Cube.  The colour changes are very easily explained, but my 'Ocean Surf' coloured Cube can be any number of shades from bright blue, to gray to green.

Back in the middle of summer when the sun was super bright and high in the sky, the cube sparkles a brilliant vibrant blue. Since the sun has been going down earlier my Cube has been spending more time under the gastly glow of yellowish city street lights rendering it a weird greenish colour.  With the miserable cold overcast skys that we've been having lately my Cube is dulled to an equally miserable gray colour.
