Mosaic project for montreal public library

Hey cube community!

I have not logged in for some time, mostly I have been occupied with a lot of great projects in Montreal.  This winter I produced a mosaic mural for a public art piece in the children's library at Point-aux-trembles, Montreal.  The project was made in collaboration with my partner, artist Arthur Desmarteaux.  Please spend a moment to check out the link to our MOSAIC BLOG, to follow our process.  The cube was instrumental in helping transport materials to and from the studio to create this monumental work. 240 square feet of cermic pixels!  THANKS NISSAN!  There will be an inauguration of this work, October 2, 2011.  I will surely post the invite when the time comes! best,  Allison

Vancouver Island

Some photos from my roadtrip up Vancouver Island this summer.  While camping at Sprout Lake, on my way up to Tofino, I spotted another BLUE CUBE camping!  I pulled up beside it to take these stealthy shots.  And later talked to the owner [not a winner] but a fellow cube enthusiast indeed!

Artist Arthur Desmarteaux and I were recently invited for a 2 week residency at Engramme Print Studios in Quebec City. Here are more photos.  The picturesque road tour in the CUBE! www.looper.ca

If you squint...you can see the cube in the background...oh, and the St. Lawerence River, too.

LOBSTER FEAST!  CUBE delivered 9 beautiful fresh lobster to the feast.  Incidentally, handy storage compartments makes for great aquarium, with minimal splashing.

Artist Arthur Desmarteaux and I were recently invited for a 2 week residency at Engramme Print Studios in Quebec City. We stayed right in the heart of the artist community in the Centre Meduse which straddles the new and old city. The cube was instrumental in trasporting all our inks, papers and materials from Montreal. CUBE also came in handy for last minute runs for Lobsters for a feast at the Chambre Blanche!  Lobster tank in the CUBE!

I've Become An Addict... Again...

It's been a while. I know. I blame it all on my new addiction, well, my "I forgot how much I loved this" obsession... knitting! ha. I pretty well went into knitting overdrive over the holidays. Let's put it this way, i knit, 7 scarves, 1 touque, Dishclothes, a blanket, a vest and i'm almost done my purple hoodie! yep, i'm nuts. i know.

i will post pics of the hoodie as soon as i finish it. The vest too :) that just needs to be sewn together.

For me, because about... 80% of my life is online and has to do with "techy/coding/social media" stuff, coming home and being able to do something which most consider an "old fashioned" hobby makes me feel awesome. It reminds me to slow the hell down and relax. I love it. My dream now is to one day open up a Knitting Store/Cafe. Who knew! lol

Along with knitting, i think i'm going to try and tackle Amigurumi. That's a crocheting style which allows you to pretty much crochet ANY shape. The result of this, well, take a look at these beyond adorable toys:

aux pommes!

je suis allée aux pommes avec des copines... en cube, bien sûr! nous avons aussi rendu visite aux maraîchers du coin.

here's a link to the little gallery i made... and a preview!

Cruising... More Than Just A Word

Here's something most of you may not know. The Cube is my first car. Yep, that's right... it's insane. Not only do I love the fact that I can get myself anywhere i need to faster... but i love the fact that i can cruise.

Cruising has to be my favorite thing to do... i'm not stressed about traffic, cause really, i'm not in a rush to go anywhere. I love cranking my fave songs, which as of recently has been the whole Misfits box set... rolling down the windows... feeling the wind on my face... it's awesome.

I love that if i'm stressed, i can hop in the car, not worry about asking if i can borrow the hubby's car... not worried about if i have to return it... and just cruise.

I know that to a lot of people, driving is a chore. To me... it's bliss.

Another reason i dont mind traffic anymore is because it's allowed me to have MANY a conversation with people about the Cube. It's quite hilarious when someone asks you to roll down your window so they can ask about what you're driving.
