Last night I attended the ACE Awards (Advertising Club of Edmonton) for the first time. I've been in Edmonton for about 4 months and had only one submission for the 2009 awards show. I created a self-promotional piece for the agency I had been interning at. The piece was a Christmas card to be sent out to clients, the concept being to make a wish for those less fortunate, as our agency would be donating turkeys to those in need. The front of the card was held together by these plastic wish bones that looked pretty real and actually snapped apart. I concepted and designed the card, which I'm pretty proud of!

I knew the piece had been submitted to the awards show, but never expected anything to come of it. When they called my piece for the category of self-promotion, i was utterly shocked! The Cretive Director then motioned for me to head up on stage with him to accept the award and say a thank you speech. This is definitely a better than expected start to my career as an art director!
