The cube has landed in PEI

Getting to sleep is not the easiest after a large triple-triple from Tim Hortons and a brand new car waiting for you the following morning.

I've been working some pretty late nights because of external events conflicting with my work during the day. Last night, after filling myself with coffee and donuts and coding for a few hours, I got home at around midnight. It was nice to finally fall into my bed and sleep...or at least try to.

The last time I had checked the clock it said 1:30am.

La-la land wasn't all that memorable. What was memorable was how I woke up at 6:30am in the morning. I had left my bedroom window closest to my bed open during the night. As luck would have it, a lot of rain came down during the night, and it seemed like half a fjord had been dumped on my face.

The morning rolled on. I climbed out of my rain-soaked bed and proceeded to get ready. My friend Julie, known for being a bossy speck of a girl, would definitely be showing up on time to accompany me to Charlottetown. Getting ready before she arrived at the house was my top priority. When 8:00am rolled around I was ready, just as Julie was rolling into the driveway.

PEI is known for its two months of intense summer construction projects. This year the major project is a stretch of road through the village of Hunter River. Though not to the levels of a Toronto-style traffic jam, it can definitely wreak havoc on any travel plans...so we took a detour.

Unfortunately, PEI is also known for dirt roads that come out of nowhere, usually ending up in a potato field where a) you are going to get stuck, or b) you are going to collide with a tractor. But, the clay-based road we found took us out to another highway and avoiding crisis. Another 20 mins of driving later, we arrived at Clarke Nissan in Charlottetown - in one piece - greeted by what must be some of the nicest automotive sales staff this side of Ursa Major.

So, the cube is in my driveway as we speak along with two other cars that are being neglected. It is nice to finally have it home and be able to drive it around. So far, it's been a blast and super comfortable for a small car. I just can't wait to bring it to one of these 'cube meets' people keep doing in Ontario.
