Get Your Glee On

So earlier this summer I was elated to discover (that was an accidental rhyme, but I'm just going to roll with it) that I had been selected in the Peak Performance Project - an annual competition where 20 of British Columbia's top artists/bands compete for the grand prize of $100,500.00. All 20 of us are currently going through 5 months of rigorous training, challenges, a week-long music bootcamp and mentoring by some of the biggest names in the music biz. It's an incredible project put on by Music BC and  100.5 The Peak - quite possibly one of Canada's hippest and most cutting edge radio stations, playing everything from Mumford and Sons and Arcade Fire to Jack Johnson and now...yours truly.

All 20 artists are given 5 different challenges to carry out and we get judged on them by a panel of industry pros. The was to "create a viral video campaign announcing your acceptance into the Peak Performance Project". As you can imagine, this was not an easy challenge. After doing some digging I discovered a friend of mine was in an actual Glee club (how awesome is that?). After that initial conversation with her, one thing led to another and we ended up making a Glee-inspired music video. We started filming at 7:30 PM and wrapped up shooting the next day at 6 AM. All the classroom scenes you see were filmed around 4 in the morning. Brutal, but everyone did an incredible job. This video cost under $500 to make (basically food for everyone, a little cash to the incredible team filming/editing and equipment rentals). Other than that it was entirely volunteer. Whether you're a Glee lover or hater, I hope you enjoy this. And please spread it like whipped butter!
