Giving away your Cube?

Hey, I don't want to be a spoil sport here but, after all the hard work we (all 500 cubists) did in this competition why is it that one of the winners is holding his own contest to give away his Cube?

If you didn't want it, why enter the contest in the first place?

I could think of a lot of other contestants who put a HUGE amount of effort in to win the Cube. Those people are more deserving, to me, because they really needed a car and or were passionate about the Cube. They would be better Cube ambassadors because they would never give their Cube away.

Am I the only one who feels that this could negatively reflect on the community as a whole? I understand that this "new" contest does not break any rules I just feel it's in Bad taste.

I personally think its a genius idea. I am an indie artist myself, and it is VERY HARD to set yourself apart these days in the music industry...its very diluted. This is a great way to set Greg apart, and draw more attention to the Cube overall.

All the power to you Greg! I will certainly be purchasing a copy of your record when it comes out.

Hey Mark,

Sorry if my contest feels in bad taste to you. It is not my intention at all to negatively affect this community. If anything, I'm trying to bring MORE attention to how sweet the cube is and shine a light on the amazing creative types that won them and drive them, such as yourself.

The truth is I LOVE my cube and giving away my car was definitely not an easy decision to make. I'm an independent artist. Have been for the last 7 years. I work my tail off to get the music out there and next month my new album is dropping. A friend of mine who has a great marketing mind suggested I run a contest where fans can help me promote my new album by carrying out simple tasks, and in return, get a chance to win a private concert and my cube (after all, the cube was also a gift from my fans whose votes comprised 20% of my score - as was the case with all the winners). So far the response has been overwhelming from fans and business execs alike. Already they are re-tweeting and updating their Facebook statuses in Oklahoma, Nova Scotia, Tennessee, British Columbia, Florida, Ontario, California...telling their networks of friends about this new Nissan cube some singer dude is giving away.

Please don't get me wrong. I love my cube and I love being a part of this community. I worked hard to be a part of it like everyone else here. My dream come true would be to be able to (at the end of a year or so) walk into a Nissan dealership and buy another cube. But until the music is on more iPods and in more car stereos, that won't happen anytime soon. I believe the cube and the music I make are a great team and will together win over a lot of music and automotive fans.

Thanks for your understanding.

All the best,

Greg

Mark, I agree with you. I

Mark, I agree with you.

I have not commented on anything within this community so far, but bravo. I think you hit the nail on the head here, you've expressed the exact feeling so many of the outsiders have felt. It's not a bitterness at having lost, it's just shock at the lack of enthusiasm or even a lack of appreciation some of the winners have. I can count so many people who would have never even entertained the thought of giving away the car they worked so hard for.

Funny how things turn out though, at least there are still winners like yourself who really deserved it!
