I am super excited to announce that I will be working on the 2010 Lilith Fair tour this summer. 70 days away from home, 36 shows, 56 days on a tour bus. Hearing 108 gorgeous sets by the best female artists in the world.

How the heck did this happen? Well, some of you know that in addition to being on stage, I’ve obtained a fair bit of experience behind the stage…working weekends and vacation time as a production assistant on many local festivals and concerts here in Canada. I’ve learned a lot about how a live concert works inside and out – and its very valuable knowledge for me as an artist. A LOT of people work tirelessly months in advance to bring some of the worlds most amazing music festivals to your ears.

Where the heck have I been lately? Well, that’s a bit of a mystery even to me. (Besides working a full time “real person” job…) For my own piece of mind I have to get this out. I’ve had severe writers block for the past half a year, and it’s been torturous. I nailed it down to the fact that there were certain things in my personal life that were dragging down my creativity. I love making music. Anything that stops me from doing that must be removed from my life. This tour couldn’t have come at a better point in my life. Why aren’t I playing shows on the tour? That’s a question I am going to get 100 times. :) The answer is…I’m going to school. To break this writer’s block, I’m going back to the basics.

Think of it this way: The tour bus – is my school bus. The amazing female artists baring their souls to thousands of people every day – my teachers. All the adventures I will have, the people the places, the experiences – my lessons. My final test? Coming home, full of inspiration and passion for this industry and writing the best damn songs I’ve ever written…and recording them in the fall just for you…but more for me. I’ve spent the last 3 years so focused on the end result of my career, and forgetting the passion I have for simply creating music. I’m going back to my roots. I am going to write and record music for the rest of my life because I love doing it. Whatever comes as a result is considered a rad bonus. I’m setting my soul free this summer, and June can’t come soon enough.
