Simple Pleasure

I've never been a huge car person.  I've never really cared much for cars or many material objects in my life for that matter.  Sure there are all sorts of gizmos, gadgets and toys that I've had over the years that I've loved and enjoyed, but none defined me and I never defined myself by the things I've had.

I still don't define myself by the Cube I drive, but of all the many gizmos and gadgets I've had the Cube really is near the top of the list.  A big part of that reason is the way I earned it.  Getting to do fun and creative projects to prove myself Cube worthy was a big personal investment.  It was a very fun experience and each time I get into the driver's seat I'm reminded of it.

The other part is the genuine joy I have when I drive it.

The other day I was visiting family and had to run out to the corner store.  Being in suberbia I chose to drive the 1.5km.  It seems like a strange thing for to reminisce about, but from the push of the button to the zig zag through the suburban streets to my destination I felt bliss.

There is something about the way the Cube drives and the way it responds to my commands issued via the pedal and steering wheel.  As I cruised the short distance to the store I actually let out a laugh.  I was having a blast driving.

I don't really have a point here.  I just wanted to share the story of this one lucky boy that looks forward to mundane errands if it means hopping into his car.
