Weird Electrical Problem
Submitted by jpacey on February 24th, 2010
I've been having an issue with my CUBE all winter - most recently yesterday. It will start, I'll go somewhere in town (a 10 minute drive), park and turn her off. Then when I come back it just won't start. It will turn on the radio, fan etc (like turning the key to the first spot on a keyed car) but it won't turn over - it won't even try to turn over at all.
I have to wait for 5 - 15 minutes then suddenly it will start and everything will be fine suddenly. Has anyone else had this problem? Yesterday was about the 7th time it's happened since October.

Nissan put out a TSB just last month on that problem; it is the steering lock, an electronic controller that shuts down the ignition if it believes it is being tampered with. If you are the original owner, you should have gotten a letter, or been notified from the dealer when it was last in for service. There is no way you can start the car with a defective one.
I'm not sure if this is the same issue. Last month, I went to shopping for less than one hour when I got back to my car I couldn't open car door (intelligent key). I pulled out the key manually open the door and got inside my car and tried to start engine, no luck...same thing radio, interior light all working but the engine just won't start. I had to ask my husband to bring me the spare key. The result was the key battery is dead. I went back to the dealer to replace a new battery (free). This is unusal the key battery only last 4 months.

well I thought of that originally and did replace the battery but that still didn't help. Thanks for your comment though!
