the Judges range from Takashi Murakami to Animal Collective.

Chef Off! | Art a la Carte

It was a pretty fun shoot, a little exhausting.

I just hope they don't make me look like a total jerk!

It's pretty cool though, the episode takes place in an art gallery. you get to check out a bunch of both of our artwork. There's some smack talk, some surprises, and some cooking. I am not a chef.

Here's the synopsis from Food Network . ca:

Chef Blackie and Chef Lyon arrive at Gallery 345 and are invited to study the conceptual art pieces on display. With the artists as their apprentices, the chefs will need to prepare hors de oeuvres inspired by the art and once the prep work has been done, the artists will blindly plate their dishes.

has it been a year this month?

right? we got them in June? or July?

Anyways, its crazy! seems like just yesterday, but also seems like so long ago.

I really remember being shocked that I won. It was such a great feeling, I had never won anything serious up to that point. I am still so grateful to Nissan and to Capital C. As well as happy to have met so many great people through this contest.

Wow time flies.

good times.

Cube DJ Summer setlist.

SO hard to put together a fav. songs list. Here's the top 10 I've been loving this last week or so.

Band of Horses - Neighbor (best new track on their new album)

Best Coast - When I'm With You

JJ - My Way

Hold Steady - Hurricane J

Ryan Bingham - Crazy Heart

Beach Boys - Only With You (this song sounds like Wilco. seriously Beach Boys 70's stuff is a-mazing)

Jimmy Buffett - Pirate Looks at 40 (OR the Jack Johnson cover of it)

Sleigh Bells - Tell 'em

Avi Buffalo - Whats In It For

Local Natives - Sun Hands

inside the box...

Man, I was working on this shoot for a show called "Inside the Box with Ty Pennington" (yeah that Ty Pennington). It was one of those shoots where the days are so long, those working in TV and film know what I'm talking about. Of course everyone is making a daily rate, so when you work a 12 or 16 hour daym that rate is sometimes not so awesome. It just makes me wonder, why don't they just add a day or two to the schedule so people can have a little bit of downtime? I mean I know it boils down to squeezing every last bit out of everyone, and its all about the dough. I really think the industry is pretty messed up. I mean expecting people to work 7, 8, 9, 11, 20 days straight from 7 am to 11pm sucks. I know on union shoots people are compensated for that, but there are alot of reality shoots that aren't union and there are alot of people getting the shaft. It seems to me like some people love it, but I do not include myself in that group. I just don't get it. I've been in this industry for the last 4 years or so, and have gotten to work on alot of great shoots, but whenever I get on one of this type, I just wonder how is this legal?
