One year already?

It's really hard to believe that it's already been one year since I got the Cube! Time really does fly when you're always cruising around and heading on trips. From New York to Boston to Wasaga to Algonquin, the Cube's really seen it's fair share of road this past year and is now hovering around the 21,000 km mark. Hopefully I can get that up to 50,000 by the end of the year with a road trip out west! Happy one year anniversary everyone!

Wasaga Beach!

The summer weather has really been kicking in the last few weeks and I've been taking every opportunity to cruise around in the Cube and enjoy the great outdoors. This past weekend, me and a bunch of buddies decided to head up to Wasaga beach and catch some rays and, of course, build some sand monuments / castles. The end result was a mix of a castle / village that required the help of 8 people. Check it out.

Fishing in Orangeville

After seeing just about enough news on the G20, me and a bunch of buddies decided to head up north to escape the chaos of the city and do some fishing. We did some planning and decided to try out Island Lake, right near Orangeville. And if you're an avid fisher (or even a weekend one) I highly recommend trying the lake out. It's a really nice reserve located only about an hour north-west of Toronto...and it's stocked full of fish. After gathering everyone together and packing up the Cube, we went up there for the day and ended up catching nearly a dozen small mouth and large mouth bass. My buddy had the most luck and managed to pull out 3 bass himself. By the late afternoon though, the showers / lightning forced us to return to the Cube...but not after prepping the seats with garbage bags to avoid ruining the seats (gotta keep that fabric clean!). All in all though, the lake is a perfect weekend escape from the city and worth checking out!

Back from Massachusetts

After over sixteen hours and 1736 kms on the road, the Cube is finally back at home. Me and the rest of the family decided to drive it up last weekend to pay my cousins in Massachusetts a visit and finally introduce them to the Cube. The unfortunate part of the entire trip, other than the exceedingly long drive of course, was the amount of bugs splattered all over the Cube's windshield...and the bumper and side mirrors. I had to spend a good chunk of time literally scraping off the remains of whatever was unlucky enough to cross paths with us. So far, the best method I've found is using a plastic scraper along with some dish soap and sturdy clothes to do the job. It may take a a bit of time, and a good degree of physical labour, but it seems to be the only way to really remove all the gunk. The car wash simply does it no justice at all.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had to rid that dreaded goo off their windshield - how do you guys usually clean the front of the Cube after a long drive?

Time for some fishing

With all the great weather over the past two weeks, me and my buddies have taken every opportunity to head outdoors and do some fishing...which has also resulted in about 5 fishing trips in the past 14 days. The Cube has been a great aid, transporting our stuff back and forth, and is definitely going to see its fair share of fish once bass season starts up in June. But for now, I'm going to keep hitting up the Toronto Islands while Pike season is on. Has anyone else been out fishing yet?
